The Hours / Las Horas

The Hours - the title alludes to a work by Argentine author and philosopher Jorge Luis Borges - offers a first representative selection of works from the Daros-Latinamerica Collection, the most extensive collection of contemporary Latin American art in Europe. The collection is weighted toward the art of the past twenty years and comprises works in a wide range of media, from installations and objects to videos, paintings, drawings, artists' books and performances.
Taken together, the positions presented in this volume, each of which is characterized by striking formal and substantive rigor, offer a complex picture of this vast cultural region composed of numerous individual faces, identities, and interests. Thus the book is a kind of mosaic that provides fascinating insights into the still largely unexplored Latin American art scene. Short, succinct texts on the work of the individual featured artists guide the reader on this journey of discovery.
